DREAM TRAVELER
INTIMATE ART
adeledubois.com
Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.
DREAM TRAVELER, which released in February, is a futuristic erotic romance with a contemporary feel since it's set in the near future. Many of the technologies described in the story are in their initial stages today. I hope that readers who don't ordinarily read futuristic romances will choose DREAM TRAVELER, since Emily and Bill Hopkins' world is not so different from our own. The crisis they face in their marriage and the resolution of their differences reflect choices about love and commitment that partners might face in any era.
INTIMATE ART, scheduled for April 18 release, is a paranormal erotic romance about a meddlesome ghost that haunts the master bedroom of the house the heroine inherits, in order to keep the hero out. Jack Harris is a man to be reckoned with, though, and devises a highly erotic method to chase the prudish ghost from the house. This is a fun story that I hope readers will love as much I do.
If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?
I'd choose faerie glamour, so that I'd always look young, thin, and firm. That choice is probably why my heroine, Emily Hopkins, in DREAM TRAVELER, is offered the gift of technologically restored youth. Now that I'm over-ahem, forty, I think about aging a lot. We remain the same person on the inside despite the physical changes to our appearance as we grow older. Emily Hopkins grapples with this fact of life in her story. I hope that readers will identify with her journey, weighing the cost of reclaimed youth against the value of enduring love with the man she would leave behind.
What's your favorite smell?
A vanilla-scented candle or potpourri.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
When I'm tired I love to lie on the sofa under my favorite goose down blanket and watch movies or television. I live two lives, one as a workaholic author and family woman and the other as a prime time couch potato. I work like crazy 12 to 14 hours a day, and then collapse in front the television. I read for at least an hour every night before bed. Books are like food. I can't live without them.
What makes a man sexy?
I nearly wrestled my husband to the ground and ravished him senseless when I came home exhausted from an intensive one-day writing workshop and found that he'd cleaned all three bathrooms, mopped the kitchen floor, and cooked dinner. A man who is thoughtful and considerate of his wife is very, very sexy. (And no, you can't have him!)
What's the most interesting thing you've ever done?
I was a reporter and political columnist in Jamaica in the late 1970s and early 1980s during a time of great political upheaval, when their pro-Castro socialist government was ousted in a bloody election by a more democratic body. I also fell deeply in love during that time and got my heart broken to bits.
Those were dangerous times for an American woman to be living in the Caribbean and writing about their politics, but those years were some of the most thrilling of my life. Iíve written a mainstream novel about that period in history and hope soon to find a publisher for it.
Boxers or briefs?
That depends solely on the body filling out the cloth. My hero, Jack Harris, in my paranormal erotic romance INTIMATE ART, is so hot his buns could burn flame-resistant fabric to ash.
Bad boy or perfect gentleman?
Debutante and 1950s top model Henrietta Tiarks once said,"A gentleman is a patient wolf." Since the gentleman and the bad boy are equally likely to break a woman's heart, I'd choose the man who would wine, dine, and buy me expensive gifts first. Most important, he'd have to look good both in and out of his tux.
Vin Diesel or George Clooney?
Give me George Clooney, since I like a handsome face, though my first choice would be Brad Pitt.
What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?
I have a unique paranormal series planned for Ellora's Cave that I'm really excited about. There's nothing else on the market like my trio of Guaranteed Personal Satisfaction stories.
I most want readers to know that I strive to grow as a writer with each book and that I'm dedicated to my craft. Please feel free to write to me at author@adeledubois.com and visit my website at www.adeledubois.com. Thanks for reading!

SEDUCING THE SAINT

Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.
SEDUCING THE SAINT is one of my favorite futuristics and I am so happy it is back in print. Libby needs help from the one man she resents, her ex-lover, Brady St. James. She knows the nickname of Saint isn't anything close to the real man, but she needs his help to find her missing father. Brady has been waiting for her to return for a year and this time around he wants to make sure he doesn't let her slip away. I've added a couple more scenes, and the love scenes are longer with a menage added to one of them. There is a lot of action in and out of the bedroom.
If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?
Flying. I love to travel but hate all the red tape. It would be great to just pop up and go where I want.
What's your favorite smell?
Cinnamon on a cold morning. This is nothing like the homey smell of something with cinnamon baking in the oven. Oh, and I think the most wonderful memory of smell is Gingerbread on a German street at Christmastime.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
Read, and I love to spend time with the family. With a military hubby, we make the most of the time we have together. Cooking is another love, but unfortunately, so is eating.
What makes a man sexy?
Wicked humor and a great smile that I can feel all the way to my toes.
What's the most interesting thing you've ever done?
Getting proclaimed a witch when I traveled to the Netherlands (it was called Holland at the time). I have a certificate to prove it somewhere.
Boxers or briefs?
If I have to pick, I say knit boxers, but I prefer skin.
Bad boy or perfect gentleman?
Can I have a perfect gentleman who has a bit of a bad boy in him? I like manners, but I also like smartasses.
Vin Diesel or George Clooney?
George, hands down.
What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?
I have a couple readers' groups which you can find links to on my website on the Fun Stuff page. I have monthly birthday drawings for my members. Also, I have a contest every month for joining my newsletter. March I am giving away a $50 gift certificate from Spafinder.com. And keep your eyes peeled for HUNTING MILA, the sequel to SEDUCING THE SPY, coming soon from Ellora's Cave.

SEDUCED BY MAGIC

Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.
SEDUCED BY MAGIC is the first in the Magical Seduction series. The stories feature fairies, elves, gods, goddesses and their children, but all with an Etruscan twist. SEDUCED BY MAGIC has one hot, smart-mouthed, brilliant guy named Justin, who wakes up in bed with a beautiful woman with pink wings. Scarlata is an Etruscan folletta, who's sure Justin is there to expose her small community hidden in the woods of eastern Pennsylvania. She decides to get rid of him by any means necessary but, first, she can't resist a taste of his beautiful body as he sleeps. And when Justin wakes up, she gets a lot more than a taste. I certainly hope readers like the hot sex but also the emotional content. I love stories that make you hot but also make your heart pound in anticipation.
If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?
The ability to snap my fingers and have someone clean my house and cook dinner!!!
What's your favorite smell?
Okay, this is going to sound really weird, but-bus exhaust. Wait, let me tell you why. I took three trips to Italy and Greece as a teenager and we traveled around on buses. That smell reminds me of my time there. It also reminds me of trips to New York to see Broadway shows with my mom and getting dropped off in Times Square. I know, weird.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
Read romance. Every night before bed, I read for an hour or two or more depending on how good the book is. I like to run. Well, mostly jog because my knees complain, but I do a lot of plotting when I run, helps me think. I love to go to the theater ("Rent" is probably my favorite but I adore anything Sondheim). And I love to take my teenage boys to concerts. I'm a rock-screamo-metal fan, so My Chemical Romance, Bullet for My Valentine, Senses Fail, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Academy Is and Coheed and Cambria rank up there as favorites.
What makes a man sexy?
His ability to laugh and make me laugh. His intelligence. And a very cute butt.
What's the most interesting thing you've ever done?
Strolled down the Forum in Rome and among the ruins of Pompeii. Climbed the steps of the Coliseum and threw coins in the Trevi Fountain. Bought gold on the streets of Florence and took a boat into the Blue Grotto of Capri. I've eaten souvlaki on the streets of Athens, stood on the Acropolis and walked through the Lion's Gate at Mycenae.
Boxers or briefs?
How about boxer briefs, tight but not too short. Curve-hugging and hanging low on the hips so you can just see the tip of his-wait, what was the question again?
Bad boy or perfect gentleman?
Definitely bad boy, one who doesn't talk a lot but, when he does, expresses his intelligence and his strength and his love of a good woman.
Vin Diesel or George Clooney?
Vin Diesel. I've got a thing for guys with shaved heads. And that wicked smile of his.
What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?
I'm half Italian (well, one-quarter Sicilian and one-quarter Roman) and, when I was looking for a hook for the stories I wanted to write about magic, I looked to my heritage and found a treasure trove of information that I then added my own spin to. I've loved creating an entire race and building their hidden world into our own. I hope readers enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed creating them.

SEEING BLIND
ktallen.com
Tell us about your upcoming release and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.
SEEING BLIND is a contemporary paranormal thriller (something for everyone!) about Cassie, who has moved to a farm outside the small, Midwestern town of Napping in order to escape from her psychic abilities and the unwanted attention that they brought. For two years, Cassie has lived a lonely but blissfully vision-free existence with her horses, quirky neighbors and steamy daydreams featuring the hot, local sheriff, Ty. Her peaceful life is shattered, however, when she is struck by a vision of a local woman's murder. Guilt forces her into her own investigation, drawing the sheriff's close-very close-attention. As their relationship heats up, Cassie struggles to expose a murderer without revealing her psychic abilities to Ty, which she fears would drive him away and destroy her last chance at happiness.
I hope that readers of SEEING BLIND will enjoy their escape to the small town of Napping and into the lives of Cassie, Ty and all the other residents. Writing these characters, I was amazed at how they took on a life of their own, as if they were reading the computer screen over my shoulder, giving me a poke in the arm once in a while and complaining, "What are you doing? I wouldn't say that-here, just give me the keyboard." It's a nerve-wracking experience, putting these characters out in the world, hoping that everyone will love them as much I do.
If you could have one special super or magical power, what would it be?
Now this is a stay-up-all-night-to-debate sort of question! I'm always tempted by invisibility, but I have to go with mind-reading. A handy skill!
What's your favorite smell?
Cookies. Yum. I like candles, body lotions, lip balms, etc. that smell like food (sweet things, not meatloaf)-vanilla, pumpkin, cinnamon, raspberry-mmm-now I'm getting hungry.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
Ride horses (dressage and eventing, mostly), do gymnastics (yes, I do realize that I'm 34 and way too old to be doing that. I don't care-it's fun to do flips), dance, read, knit, box, travel, stare into space and think about new book plots, walk past the local fire station and wave at the firemen, hike, sled, scuba dive, paint (pictures, not houses), hang out with my family and friends, eat jellybeans and watch "guy" movies (my taste in movies is sadly adolescent).
What makes a man sexy?
For me, there is nothing sexier than a man who can dance. It doesn't matter what his age, body type, amount of hair left, what style of dance he's doing-ballroom, modern, just shaking it at the club-if he can move, he's hot.
What's the most interesting thing you've ever done?
This is a hard question. Accidentally walk in on a showering professional football player (actually, I did that twice-two different players. At what point does that stop being an accident?), hold a sea cucumber in my hand, hang out backstage at Red Rocks during a Roots/311 concert, swim on a horse in the Jamaican surf... I have to say, though, that the most interesting thing I've done is write this book.
Boxers or briefs?
Not to be contrary, but boxer briefs.
Bad boy or perfect gentleman?
My initial instinct is to say definitely bad boy. Then I started thinking about Ty, the hero in SEEING BLIND, and how he leaned more toward the perfect gentleman side (bossy gentleman, but still). I think the perfect guy is a blend of the two, since, although bad boys can be so much fun, they can also be tough to live with. That's the great thing about writing books-you can be Dr. Frankenstein and create the ideal blend of the two-bad boy and gentleman smooshed together into the perfect man.
Vin Diesel or George Clooney?
Vin Diesel. I like my guys big, strong and macho. I'm not very evolved that way-I still look at guys in the "Can he chase down dinner and then beat up the Neanderthal next door who's been bugging me?" way. Well, that and "Wow, he looks hot in that wooly mammoth loincloth."
What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?
I'd just like everyone to know how excited and grateful I am that people are reading my book and enjoying the story that I created. It's such an amazing feeling, like talking with a stranger in line at the grocery store and finding out you know the same people. Pretty soon, you're clutching each other's hands, jumping up and down and squealing, "I know! I love them, too!" Anyway, you are taking very good care of my precious characters, and I wanted to thank you for that. |
